Role overview

A senior product manager opportunity on a Product and UX team supporting a portfolio of open-source smart home products. The role centers on crafting product vision and strategy, then carrying opportunities through to delivery in close partnership with engineers, designers, and researchers. The team operates with a global community of contributors and collaborates with commercial partners to evolve privacy-respecting home automation tooling.

Responsibilities

- Develop product visions and strategies across multiple products within the foundation's portfolio. - Drive opportunities from discovery through delivery, working hands-on with engineering, design, and research colleagues. - Participate in day-to-day product development operations, stepping in wherever needed to keep work moving. - Coordinate with internal teams, stakeholders, and external commercial partners on shared initiatives. - Engage a worldwide open-source community throughout the product lifecycle, from early discovery to release.

Requirements

- 5+ years of experience delivering measurable value to users as a product manager. - 3+ years of experience shaping product strategy and vision. - Demonstrated ability to work with full autonomy using iterative development and release practices. - Experience collaborating across multi-disciplinary teams that include UX designers, researchers, and engineers. - Strong communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging to varied audiences. - Comfort with public speaking in settings such as workshops, meetups, or livestreams. - Professional fluency in written and verbal English. - Current residency and eligibility to work within Europe.

- Fully remote, full-time position at 40 hours per week with no fixed schedule. - At least 3 hours of workday overlap expected for team coordination. - Reports to a marketing lead based in Western Europe. - Local salaried employment with all country-mandated benefits. - 25 days of paid time off each year. - 14 days of paid sick leave where local law treats sick days as unpaid. - Six weeks paid plus six weeks unpaid parental leave in the first year after birth, topped up where national provision is less generous. - Hardware budget at start, with the option to keep the equipment for personal use after three years. - 50% contribution toward home internet costs. - One day every two weeks reserved for personal projects. - Ability to spend work time maintaining related open-source side projects. - Target compensation around the 75th percentile of local market rates, with indicative figures of roughly €79,500 in the Netherlands, £74,100 in the UK, €68,500 in Spain, and €61,800 in Portugal; other countries discussed at first interview.
