Technical Product Manager, Platform

Role overview A senior product role owning the core robotics platform for an intelligent automation company serving high-mix manufacturers. The platform is the software stack that lets a robotic cell perceive, move and recover, together with the simulation pipeline used to build and test it. Expect close daily collaboration with senior robotics engineers and team leads, real technical trade-offs, and direct influence on which manufacturing processes and markets the business can enter next.

Responsibilities - Own the platform roadmap end-to-end: decide what gets built, what "done" means, and when it ships. - Run discovery and prioritisation, turning input from customers, engineers and leadership into evidence-led, sequenced jobs to be done. - Write specs and milestones that hold up under the high cost of change in robot software, catching expensive mistakes early. - Lead cycle planning for the pillar, tracking milestones against estimates and reforecasting honestly when targets slip. - Sign off on delivered work against the bar written in the spec. - Embed the reality of operators and facility managers into prioritisation, and partner with deployment so releases work on the factory floor, not just in the lab.

Requirements - Hands-on robotics engineering background with shipped work in perception, motion planning, manipulation or robotics simulation. - Senior product experience owning a technical area with ten or more engineers, from problem definition through to release. - Track record writing specs and requirements that survive for months in a high cost-of-change environment. - Discipline in estimation, milestone tracking and reforecasting, with stated risk. - Comfort disagreeing on evidence with very senior engineers and changing minds in either direction. - Strong written English; the team is remote and works through documents rather than slides. - Working grasp of learned robotics, including ML-driven perception and control alongside classical methods.

Nice to have - Industrial automation or manufacturing experience in high-mix environments. - Hands-on time with simulation tooling such as Isaac Sim. - Experience as the first or most senior product person in a technical area, defining the ways of working from scratch. - Serious daily use of AI tools inside product work.
