About this role
Role overview A senior full-stack engineering role on the Fee Navigator team, the platform that automates merchant statement analysis and proposal generation for a payments technology company. The system ingests processing statements in nearly any format, classifies every fee, calculates markup and potential savings, and produces a signable proposal in seconds, replacing hours of analyst work per statement. The role suits an experienced engineer who can navigate complex codebases, solve genuinely hard problems, and operate autonomously inside a collaborative agile team.
Responsibilities - Design, build, and enhance features across the full stack using PHP/Laravel on the backend and Vue on the frontend. - Write and optimize MySQL queries to keep performance and reliability strong at scale. - Take end-to-end ownership of quality through developer-led unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, validating changes through to production. - Refactor complex areas of a large established codebase and decompose high-complexity components into maintainable, well-structured code. - Document critical business logic, application workflows, and key architectural decisions. - Collaborate with Product Managers to refine requirements and shape technical solution design. - Participate in code reviews to maintain engineering standards and share best practices across the team. - Partner with Site Reliability to ensure software is observable, resilient, secure, and production-ready. - Diagnose and resolve incidents, defects, and performance bottlenecks with cross-functional teammates. - Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes, tooling, and engineering practices.
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. - Strong professional experience with modern PHP and a framework such as Laravel, plus solid front-end skills in Vue or comparable frameworks. - Deep MySQL experience, including designing efficient queries and tuning performance. - Ability to work independently and collaboratively on complex systems with a high degree of autonomy. - Track record of developer-led testing and taking ownership of quality end to end.
Nice to have - Experience with the Vue ecosystem (Quasar, Pinia, Vite). - Hands-on containerization experience with Docker. - Familiarity with caching technologies such as Redis or Memcached. - Experience with AWS services like ECS, ECR, S3, and SQS. - Working with logging and monitoring tools such as Sentry or New Relic. - Understanding of cloud-native or SaaS architectures, including scalability, resilience, and multitenancy. - Exposure to Python and ML-adjacent services like Flask, Pandas, or scikit-learn. - Experience integrating AI capabilities into applications or workflows.
