Job details
About this role
Role overview
A senior-level position focused on operating, optimizing, and securing large-scale AWS infrastructure that powers production workloads. The role combines deep Linux expertise with container orchestration, database administration, and infrastructure-as-code to keep cloud platforms reliable, performant, and cost-efficient.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate highly available AWS environments spanning EC2, EKS, ECS, RDS, S3, VPC, Lambda, and IAM. - Manage production containerized workloads on Amazon EKS and ECS, including cluster lifecycle, networking, autoscaling, and troubleshooting. - Administer and harden Linux systems (RHEL, Ubuntu, or Amazon Linux), covering performance tuning, storage, networking, and incident response. - Operate and tune relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Aurora) and NoSQL platforms (DynamoDB, Redis) for availability and disaster recovery. - Strengthen cloud security through IAM policies, network controls, secrets management, and compliance-aligned practices. - Improve observability and incident response using CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, and similar tooling, including on-call participation and root-cause analysis. - Drive cost optimization, automation, and capacity planning while partnering with engineering, DevOps, and platform teams.
Requirements
- 4–5 years in cloud operations, infrastructure engineering, or SRE with a strong hands-on focus. - Deep production experience with core AWS services and complex VPC networking, transit gateways, and IAM design. - Hands-on EKS and ECS operations, including Docker, ECR, CNI/networking fundamentals, and autoscaling. - Strong Linux administration skills plus Bash or Python scripting for automation and diagnostics. - Proficiency with Terraform (modules, state, workspaces) and Puppet for configuration management at scale. - Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or AWS CodePipeline) and observability stacks. - Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or a related engineering field preferred; AWS DevOps Engineer or CKA certification is a plus.
Benefits and work setup
- Hybrid schedule with two days in-office and three days remote each week to balance collaboration and flexibility. - Individual contributor role reporting to a Director-level leader within an established global engineering organization. - Opportunity to work with distributed teams across multiple regions on platforms serving high-volume production traffic.
