Contractor: Senior Software Engineer (Remote: Argentina; Brazil; Chile; Colombia; Costa Rica; Ecuador; Mexico; Portugal)

Role overview This is a 12-month remote contract position for a senior engineer who will own features end to end within an education-focused product organization. The work spans scoping, design input, implementation, release, and post-release support, with a strong emphasis on AI-assisted development and the thoughtful integration of LLM-powered features. The contractor partners closely with engineering, product, and design teammates to refine ambiguous problems into clearly scoped, high-quality deliverables.

Responsibilities - Deliver features end to end, from scoping and design input through implementation, release, and stabilization, with minimal oversight. - Write well-tested, production-quality code and use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate velocity without compromising craft. - Build and validate AI-integrated functionality, applying sound evaluation practices to LLM-powered features. - Partner with product management, design, and engineering to convert open-ended requests into clearly defined, valuable work. - Maintain reliable systems through strong observability, quality practices, and incident response, using AI tooling to help diagnose and resolve issues. - Support production releases and ensure owned systems remain deployment-ready and stable after launch.

Requirements - Senior-level experience delivering production software end to end. - Strong engineering judgment, especially around when AI tools add value and when human review is essential. - Experience building or evaluating AI-integrated or LLM-powered features. - Proficiency in at least one modern backend or full-stack language plus familiarity with cloud-based production systems. - Solid grasp of testing, observability, and incident response best practices. - Ability to work independently across distributed teams and communicate clearly with product and design partners.
