About this role
Role overview This role sits on an Access & Governance Platform team responsible for the authentication and authorization services that sit underneath every other product. The engineer will build and operate login, session, token, and enterprise SSO systems, as well as the roles, capabilities, and grants model that other teams check before granting access, helping shape how identity is handled across the platform.
Responsibilities - Build and operate authentication services, including SSO via SAML and OIDC, OAuth2/OIDC token issuance, session and token lifecycle, SCIM-based user provisioning, and bot or fraud defenses. - Develop APIs and internal tooling that let other engineering teams and stakeholders manage and troubleshoot user data and access controls. - Partner with product management, product design, and engineering teammates to solve complex identity and access use cases. - Participate in an on-call rotation, triaging production incidents and turning resolutions into runbooks. - Investigate and remediate reliability, data-integrity, and security issues, including routine dependency and container vulnerability work.
Requirements - At least 1 year of experience building and shipping reliable software services. - Strong expertise in backend languages, with Ruby or Java preferred. - Comfort working with data models and writing SQL against relational databases at scale. - Clear collaboration and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical tradeoffs to non-technical audiences.
Nice to have - Experience with Identity and Access Management protocols such as SCIM, OAuth2, SAML, or OIDC. - Familiarity with GraphQL APIs. - Exposure to observability tools and platforms. - Experience operating in a public cloud such as AWS, Azure, or GCP. - Experience with container technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker.
