Remote job
UI/UX Designer (12 mos. Contract)
Job details
About this role
Role overview A consumer technology company is standing up a small in-house creative group and needs a digital UI designer to own interface work on its direct-to-consumer storefront. The role is a 12-month contract, fully remote with PST hours preferred, and sits within a compact team that handles design end to end. Because the site is transactional, the work is tied to real conversion outcomes rather than purely brand expression.
Responsibilities - Design and ship web UI across campaign and product landing pages, category and listing pages, product detail pages, media and content pages, and product finder tools, from wireframe through developer-ready handoff. - Work inside an established atomic design system, building with existing components and extending it where the library does not yet cover a page's needs. - Maintain web Figma libraries so components, variants, and tokens stay clean, documented, and usable by the wider team. - Partner with the front-end team to hand off production-ready files, sanity-check feasibility, and review work in staging before launch. - Translate website analytics and consumer research findings into interface decisions. - Coordinate with a separate app product team to keep visual language consistent across web and app, and occasionally advise other teams on staying on-brand.
Requirements - 4+ years designing digital products or marketing interfaces; direct-to-consumer ecommerce or consumer tech background is a plus but not required. - Deep Figma skills with components, variants, auto layout, and tokens, and comfort working within an existing system rather than from scratch. - A portfolio of shipped web work that shows reasoning, not just final screens. - Grounded in current UI patterns and able to judge which trends are worth adopting. - Comfortable presenting and defending design decisions directly to stakeholders, including handling pushback in the room. - Working understanding of front-end implementation so components can be built by engineers without friction.
Nice to have - Prototyping and interaction design skills. - Familiarity with accessibility standards and how they shape component design.
Benefits and work setup - Fully remote with PST hours preferred; West Coast candidates prioritized. - Tooling provided, including Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, and a paid AI image tool seat. - Training supported, especially around new AI tools. - Reports to a Creative Lead and works alongside a graphic designer and copywriter in short review cycles rather than long agency-style handoffs.
