Founding Mobile Engineer (React Native)

Role overview This founding-level mobile engineering role centers on building the React Native application that powers an AI-driven social commerce platform from the ground up. The position carries broad technical authority, shaping mobile architecture, engineering practices, and product direction alongside cross-functional partners. It is best suited to a self-directed engineer who wants to define a mobile platform end-to-end rather than inherit one.

Responsibilities - Architect, build, and ship a cross-platform React Native application for iOS and Android, owning the entire mobile surface area. - Design AI-powered mobile experiences that surface insights and support real-time agent-driven interactions. - Establish mobile architecture patterns, reusable components, testing strategy, CI/CD pipelines, and performance benchmarks. - Integrate with major social platform APIs and an e-commerce platform to connect conversations with commerce flows. - Partner closely with product, design, and leadership to influence both what gets built and how it ships. - Drive reliability through monitoring, error tracking, and ongoing performance optimization.

Requirements - Five or more years of software engineering experience with deep, hands-on React Native expertise. - Track record of shipping high-quality production mobile applications to both app stores. - Strong grasp of mobile architecture, navigation patterns, state management, and platform-specific behavior. - Experience integrating external APIs and building real-time, data-intensive features. - Comfort operating across the stack in a fast-moving startup environment. - High ownership mindset, bias toward action, ability to navigate ambiguity, and strong product intuition.

Nice to have - Native iOS or Android development experience, including bridging native modules. - Background in social media platforms, commerce systems, or commerce infrastructure. - Production experience with large language models, AI agents, or machine-learning features. - Prior founding or early-stage startup experience, or notable open-source work.
