About this role

Role overview Own the product direction for tools and workflows that support audience engagement across email, content, and member or donor journeys. The role aims to replace manual campaign work with scalable, measurable activation, partnering daily with data, editorial, marketing, design, engineering, and product teams. It also supports newsletter infrastructure and the responsible use of automation and AI.

Responsibilities - Set the roadmap for audience lifecycle and marketing technology products, translating stakeholder needs into prioritized engineering work. - Build and operationalize internal audience activation tools, including self-service workflows, permissions, and governance practices. - Develop automation for audience journeys such as email discovery, repeat engagement, recurring contributions, and win-back. - Work with data and analytics partners on audience segmentation, tracking, and attribution to assess campaign impact. - Guide technical improvements to editorial newsletter products in partnership with newsroom and product leaders. - Improve lifecycle workflows through practical AI and automation, documentation, and staff training.

Requirements - At least 3 years of digital product management experience with complex platforms and measurable audience or business outcomes. - Substantive experience with enterprise marketing automation, customer data platforms, or audience lifecycle tools. - Ability to turn cross-functional needs into user stories, technical specifications, and prioritized roadmaps. - Experience leading software migrations, vendor integrations, or enterprise tool rollouts. - Background in data-informed product work, including analytics, cohort tracking, and structured A/B testing. - Strong systems thinking, data literacy, communication, and cross-functional influence.

Nice to have Experience in media, digital publishing, nonprofit, subscription, or membership settings; implementing AI automation or algorithmic segmentation; and familiarity with privacy, consent, and consumer data compliance.

Benefits and work setup Full-time, exempt, union-represented position. Work may be remote from an approved U.S. location, on-site where space and approval allow, or hybrid; occasional travel may be expected. The listed U.S. salary range is $132,915.86–$151,852.82.
