Principal Product Manager
Job details
About this role
Role overview
The Principal Product Manager is a senior individual contributor responsible for product strategy and execution across complex, interconnected software products supporting genomic and clinical workflows. The role owns the end-to-end product experience—from order intake through laboratory execution and patient reporting—and aligns commercial, operational, clinical, scientific, engineering, quality, regulatory, and program teams through influence rather than formal authority.
This position suits a product leader who can turn ambiguous business goals into coherent roadmaps, detailed workflows, scalable specifications, and reliable delivery plans in a regulated environment.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute multi-year product roadmaps while balancing rapid experimentation with long-term commercial stability. - Architect end-to-end solutions by translating business, scientific, clinical, and operational needs into cohesive workflows and product requirements. - Own the full product lifecycle, including discovery, prioritization, backlog management, Agile ceremonies, delivery, and continuous improvement. - Spend time with laboratory operations, clinical teams, customers, and other users to validate problems and ensure solutions address real-world needs. - Align Engineering, R&D, Commercial, Operations, Quality, Regulatory, and program stakeholders around priorities, risks, and delivery decisions. - Lead compliance and risk management for products subject to FDA design controls, IEC 62304, HIPAA, and other applicable standards.
Requirements
- At least ten years of product management experience in high-scale software or biotechnology environments, with demonstrated Director-level scope. - A track record of building and launching new software products from the ground up. - Deep experience in regulated industries, particularly environments involving medical technology, health technology, genomics, FDA controls, HIPAA, IEC 62304, or ISO standards. - Strong technical fluency across APIs, microservices, laboratory information systems, data platforms, and event-driven architectures. - Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex topics and influence senior stakeholders. - Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant technical, scientific, or quantitative field; an MBA or equivalent experience is a plus.
Nice to have
Hands-on use of large language models or generative AI for product discovery, requirements generation, or operational insight is valued. Experience mentoring product managers, building product culture, and working in startup or internal-incubator environments is also beneficial.
Benefits and work setup
Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage, retirement benefits, commuter support, family and bonding leave, fertility-related support, and access to testing benefits for eligible employees and immediate family members.
