Role overview

A senior engineering role on the team responsible for a browser extension ecosystem platform that serves millions of users and developers. The position focuses on modernizing the platform's architecture, scaling review and moderation workflows, and improving the developer experience for extension publishers. It blends hands-on production engineering with technical leadership, helping shape engineering practices across a stack built around Python, Django, MySQL, React, and TypeScript.

Responsibilities

- Deliver major features and architectural improvements spanning submission flows, automated moderation pipelines, developer tooling, and reviewer-facing systems. - Define engineering standards covering code review, production readiness, runbooks, on-call practices, coding conventions, and infrastructure-as-code approaches. - Improve CI/CD pipelines using declarative, pipeline-as-code patterns that make changes reproducible, testable, and easy to review. - Build observability and monitoring systems that surface actionable, data-backed insights into platform health. - Trace requests and asynchronous jobs through unfamiliar codebases to diagnose failures and identify reliability improvements. - Collaborate with designers, product managers, QA, and community contributors to ship end-to-end improvements, contributing publicly through pull requests and reviews.

Requirements

- Significant hands-on experience building and maintaining production applications with Python and Django. - Track record of operating production software where reliability, safe delivery, and incident response matter. - Strong experience with CI/CD systems and treating them as software, including declarative pipeline-as-code tooling. - Ability to write clear technical documentation such as design notes, architecture decision records, runbooks, and incident write-ups. - Comfort working iteratively with visible backlogs, short feedback cycles, retrospectives, and stakeholder demonstrations. - Demonstrated ability to mentor peers and contribute to engineering culture through code review and knowledge sharing.
