Senior Python Developer

Role overview This role owns the Python SDK and APIs of a widely used open-source computer vision annotation tool, shaping how a large and active user community integrates with the product. The work blends SDK design, backend engineering, and direct engagement with customers and community contributors to turn real-world workflows into better developer-facing interfaces. It calls for a high degree of ownership, from problem identification through technical and product decisions.

Responsibilities - Own and evolve the Python SDK, making it intuitive, reliable, and effective for real-world annotation and machine learning workflows. - Design and develop high-level SDK abstractions that make complex operations simple and approachable. - Work directly with customers and community members to understand how the product is used and translate that into SDK and API improvements. - Identify problems, propose solutions, and drive technical and product decisions end to end with minimal supervision. - Collaborate across backend, machine learning, and data infrastructure areas to deliver cohesive improvements. - Use AI-assisted development tools in day-to-day engineering work while maintaining quality and reliability. - Address challenges of working with large, data-intensive workloads typical in computer vision pipelines.

Requirements - Senior-level proficiency in Python, with experience designing and shipping SDKs or developer-facing APIs. - Strong software engineering fundamentals, including testing, documentation, and long-term maintainability. - Ability to communicate directly with users and community members and turn feedback into product decisions. - Comfort working independently, taking ownership, and driving initiatives from problem definition through delivery. - Understanding of data-intensive workflows and the challenges of working with large datasets.

Nice to have - Background in computer vision, annotation tooling, or machine learning infrastructure. - Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools in production engineering work. - Exposure to open-source development practices and community engagement.
