Senior Mobile Engineer, iOS

Role overview A senior iOS engineer is needed to help expand a widely used open-source email and communication application to mobile. The role focuses on building privacy-respecting features for a product that serves more than 20 million people globally, working alongside a small distributed team and a global open-source contributor community.

Responsibilities - Design, build, and maintain native iOS features for a cross-platform communication product - Collaborate with engineers, designers, and external contributors to ship user-respecting functionality - Contribute to architectural decisions that support expansions across desktop, mobile, and paid services - Write clean, testable code and actively participate in code review - Help evolve mobile development practices as the product grows beyond a single desktop application - Support sustainable engineering practices aligned with an open-source development model

Requirements - Several years of professional experience building production iOS applications - Strong proficiency with native iOS development tools and patterns - Track record of shipping polished, reliable mobile software - Comfort working in a remote, distributed, asynchronous team environment - Alignment with privacy-first, user-empowering product principles

Nice to have - Prior contributions to open-source projects - Experience with email, messaging, or productivity applications - Familiarity with extending desktop software to mobile platforms
