Senior Software Engineer - Cards

Role overview

Own and improve the systems behind debit and credit card products, spanning the customer experience and the financial infrastructure that processes transactions. Lead projects from early planning through launch, with a strong focus on reliability, accuracy, and customer impact.

Responsibilities - Shape project ideas into technical plans, then deliver and launch them with product and engineering partners. - Build across the stack, from customer-facing card features to services that authorize transactions and move funds. - Develop expertise in card authorization, clearing, settlement, and disputes to guide implementation decisions. - Maintain reliable operations through strong observability and careful attention to system behavior. - Improve engineering quality through design and code reviews, mentoring, and close collaboration. - Coordinate work with product, design, operations, risk, compliance, and other partner teams.

Requirements - Strong full-stack software engineering experience and a product-oriented approach to delivery. - Experience making architectural decisions for complex systems and explaining the trade-offs involved. - Systems thinking and care for both new capabilities and the continued operation of existing features. - Attention to correctness in systems where defects can have financial consequences. - Clear communication, comfort working through ambiguity, and interest in mentoring colleagues. - Experience with Haskell and TypeScript, or willingness to learn them.

Nice to have - Background in financial technology, payments, or card issuing.
