About this role
Role overview This mid-level Electrical Designer position centers on supporting power system studies for mission-critical facilities such as hyperscale and enterprise data centers, industrial plants, and large commercial buildings. The role works closely with licensed Electrical Engineers who review, sign, and seal all Arc Flash Hazard Analyses, Short Circuit Studies, and Protective Device Coordination Studies. It suits a detail-oriented designer who enjoys collaborating across engineering, project management, vendor, and client teams.
Responsibilities - Collect and organize electrical system data, including equipment nameplate information, conductor and cable details, protective device settings, and utility information, to feed engineering studies. - Build and maintain one-line diagrams and system models inside power system analysis platforms such as SKM, ETAP, or EasyPower, under engineer direction. - Draft Arc Flash warning labels, equipment schedules, and study report exhibits for engineer review and sealing. - Produce electrical construction documents, one-line diagrams, and technical details for data centers and other high-profile commercial projects. - Visit project sites to gather field data and verify as-built electrical conditions. - Help review submittals, RFIs, and change orders tied to overcurrent protective devices, switchgear, and transformers, while contributing to internal AutoCAD and Revit standards.
Requirements - At least two years of experience as an electrical designer or drafter; exposure to Arc Flash, Short Circuit, or Protective Device Coordination work is welcome but not required. - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field preferred. - Working familiarity with NFPA 70 (NEC) and NFPA 70E, paired with a willingness to grow into Arc Flash and coordination study fundamentals. - Proficiency with AutoCAD; Revit or BIM experience is a plus. - Comfort with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and exposure to power system analysis software. - Strong organizational habits, attention to detail, and clear written and verbal communication skills for cross-discipline collaboration.
Nice to have - Hands-on use of SKM, ETAP, EasyPower, or equivalent tools for modeling protective device behavior. - Revit or BIM coordination experience on multi-discipline building or data center projects. - Familiarity with drafting Arc Flash warning labels and study-ready exhibits to professional standards.
