Senior Backend/Platform Engineer

Role overview Build and operate backend services and the platform integration layer for software used in construction projects. The work connects customer systems and infrastructure, with an emphasis on secure, reliable operation in varied and regulated environments. You’ll also help guide a cloud migration and establish practical standards for AI-assisted engineering.

Responsibilities - Own backend and platform features from design through implementation, production rollout, and monitoring. - Design, build, and harden APIs, messaging flows, and deployment patterns for customer-specific environments. - Contribute technical leadership to a migration from Azure to AWS, considering reliability, security, scalability, and cost. - Develop and maintain backend services, improving robustness, observability, and maintainability. - Improve release pipelines, monitoring, and incident response, including review practices for AI-assisted changes. - Define useful AI engineering workflows and guardrails, and assess whether they improve delivery without reducing quality.

Requirements - Five or more years of software engineering experience, including building and operating enterprise applications. - Strong production experience with .NET Core and C#. - Experience with SQL and NoSQL data stores; familiarity with graph databases is useful. - Knowledge of messaging systems and event-driven patterns, such as Azure Service Bus or Kafka. - Sound architectural judgement, including appropriate use of design patterns and SOLID principles. - Experience designing or evolving cloud deployment architectures on Azure and/or AWS. - Concrete experience changing software development workflows with AI tools, including awareness of their limitations and appropriate testing and review.
