Remote job
Senior Backend Engineer (Golang)
Job details
About this role
Role overview Build the backend integration layer that gives downstream applications consistent, controlled access to data from a core banking system. The work centers on Go services, data extraction and modeling, and choosing suitable delivery patterns so consuming teams can use banking data without coupling directly to the core.
Responsibilities - Develop Go services that transform core-system data into a consistent model for downstream applications. - Work with core-system and data specialists to define extraction points and understand the data model and related business processes. - Build and maintain access mechanisms such as APIs or event streams for internal consumers. - Protect data integrity and access boundaries, and manage schema changes to limit disruption for consuming applications. - Extend and integrate with APIs maintained by other teams, and help choose batch, event-driven, or real-time delivery based on freshness needs. - Collaborate with data engineers to make new data products available for downstream viewing and queries.
Requirements - At least 5 years of backend engineering experience, with Go as a primary or preferred language. - Experience building integration, abstraction, or platform layers between legacy systems of record and modern applications. - Familiarity with transactional systems or payments. - Experience with event-driven architecture, such as Kafka, and change-data-capture pipelines. - Experience provisioning cloud services on AWS or another cloud provider. - A bachelor’s degree, or equivalent additional technology training and progressively responsible experience in place of missing college years.
Nice to have - Exposure to legacy core banking systems; writing the core system’s proprietary scripting language is not expected.
Benefits and work setup The position is remote within the United States. Compensation varies by location; the source gives a general base range of $140,000–$170,000 and an annual bonus of up to 20%. Flexible work arrangements and professional development opportunities are also described.
