Automation Consultant - Layout Execution

Role overview Lead automation capital projects across manufacturing and distribution sites, from layout and design through installation and operational start-up. The work brings engineering, operations, logistics, and other functions together to deliver safe, cost-conscious improvements in facility capacity and processes.

Responsibilities - Plan and execute multiple automation projects across North American sites. - Coordinate facility layouts, equipment installation, capacity needs, schedules, and project objectives. - Align engineering, operations, maintenance, logistics, safety, IT, procurement, suppliers, contractors, and technical service providers. - Identify value engineering and cost-saving opportunities while meeting safety, quality, regulatory, financial, and operational requirements. - Guide project contributors and service providers, and manage project records and capital approval activities. - Support project delivery in manufacturing or distribution environments that operate around the clock.

Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain, or a related field plus at least five years of relevant experience, or equivalent experience in place of a degree. - Expertise in electrical, mechanical, process, warehouse engineering and design, or mechatronics. - Track record delivering capital projects and applying project management practices. - Ability to turn engineering knowledge into process and capacity improvements. - Willingness and flexibility to work in 24/7 operating environments and travel more than 50% of the time.

Nice to have - Experience with high-speed tissue or personal care manufacturing, converting processes, or logistics and distribution facilities. - Familiarity with automation such as automated guided or mobile vehicles, robotics, and warehouse design tools such as AutoCAD. - Experience spanning engineering, operations, or leadership, and managing technical service providers, installations, and start-ups.

Benefits and work setup - Full-time remote role for candidates already authorized to work in the country; no relocation support is offered. - Listed U.S. base pay range is $105,740–$130,620, with target bonus eligibility, retirement and profit-sharing plans, and other benefits.
