Role overview
A senior engineering position focused on building automated validation frameworks for cloud infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and platform services that support customer-facing products. The work embeds within a DevOps organization and applies software engineering rigor to infrastructure testing rather than traditional application QA. The mission is to surface risk earlier in the delivery lifecycle and strengthen the reliability of cloud environments powering production services.
Responsibilities
- Design and build automated validation frameworks covering infrastructure-as-code, deployment workflows, and cloud services - Develop production-quality automation utilities using Python, Go, or comparable languages - Validate AWS networking and services including VPCs, subnets, routing, NAT gateways, IAM, security groups, and load balancers - Build automated checks for Terraform, CloudFormation, and Ansible configurations - Integrate validation suites into CI/CD pipelines and develop resilience, regression, and failure-recovery tests - Verify Kubernetes and container environments for configuration, scalability, and security - Apply CIS benchmarks, DISA STIGs, and other compliance standards through automated validation - Use logs, metrics, and telemetry to troubleshoot complex infrastructure failures - Partner with DevOps and Platform engineers on reviews covering operational risk and deployment safety - Leverage AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate development, debugging, and documentation
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software or DevOps engineering experience with a code-intensive focus - Strong programming skills in Python, Go, or another general-purpose language - Hands-on AWS infrastructure and networking experience - Practical experience with infrastructure-as-code such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible - Background integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines - Container experience with Docker and Kubernetes - Strong Linux, networking, and cloud fundamentals - Troubleshooting skills using observability platforms
Nice to have
- Experience with automated infrastructure testing frameworks such as Terratest or pytest - Work in regulated environments such as FedRAMP, GovCloud, or DoD IL5 - Familiarity with chaos engineering, policy-as-code, or compliance-as-code tooling - Relevant AWS, Kubernetes, or Terraform certifications
