Staff Backend Engineer - Core Product (Europe)

Role overview A Staff Backend Engineer role on the Core Product team, focused on engineering reliable systems that turn fragmented, high-value data into a clear intelligence layer. The position partners with a high-ownership team responsible for the platform's most business-critical backend infrastructure. The role is fully remote and based in Europe.

Responsibilities

- Design and implement backend services, data models, and pipelines at the heart of the product. - Build evaluation loops and intelligence components that make decisions more complete, transparent, and explainable. - Own delivery of business-critical systems from design through production with minimal oversight. - Communicate proactively, raising blockers early and keeping stakeholders aligned. - Run experiments, measure results, and iterate quickly on open-ended technical problems. - Apply rigorous system design, debugging, and problem-solving throughout the stack.

Requirements

- 8+ years of software engineering experience. - Strong Python skills, with openness to candidates from other object-oriented backgrounds. - Experience with serverless platforms (Lambda, EC2), asynchronous workflows, and cloud environments. - Solid working knowledge of relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL. - A high-ownership mindset with strong craft, grit, and clear communication habits.

- Background in large language models, generative AI, or distributed systems.
