Senior Backend Engineer

Role overview Design and build backend services for products used at large scale, with a focus on reliability, performance, and maintainability. The work spans the service lifecycle, from modeling and API design through production support, and includes challenging projects such as breaking apart monolithic systems and carrying out data migrations.

Responsibilities - Architect and implement resilient backend systems designed to support millions of active users. - Build and maintain services from early design and prototyping through deployment, monitoring, and production support. - Develop clean, maintainable, well-tested code and take part in code reviews. - Decompose monolithic applications into services, plan data migrations, and improve system performance. - Establish logging, monitoring, and tracing practices; investigate system health and performance bottlenecks. - Collaborate with product, infrastructure, and engineering colleagues, and support peers through technical guidance and mentoring.

Requirements - At least five years of professional software development experience. - Proficiency in Java or Kotlin and the Spring framework ecosystem. - Experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis. - Hands-on knowledge of domain modeling and REST API design. - Experience with observability practices covering logging, monitoring, and tracing. - A track record of delivering scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems.
