Role overview A remote US-based Staff Software Engineer opportunity focused on the human-analyst side of a Security Operations Center (SOC) platform. The work centers on building the investigation and triage experience, remediation actions, intelligent queue routing, and customer-facing reporting that analysts use every day. The role combines deep hands-on coding with technical leadership, architecture ownership, and mentorship, with a notable front-end emphasis on data-dense, interactive interfaces.
Responsibilities - Drive technical leadership across the SOC experience surface area, shaping architecture, data models, and design direction for case management, remediation, queues, and reporting workflows - Build analyst-facing interfaces end to end, from data model to browser, setting the standard for usability, performance, accessibility, and reusable front-end patterns in partnership with UX - Champion engineering excellence through rigorous code review, test plan review, security-by-design reviews, and hands-on pairing - Own the full lifecycle of shipped systems, including evolution, configuration, observability, reliability, and risk management - Mentor engineers across the team, helping them grow into harder problems while balancing technical rigor with delivery pragmatism - Partner with Product, UX, and SOC stakeholders to translate operational pain points into reliable, auditable systems
Requirements - 10+ years of experience developing complex software products - 5+ years of professional programming in Ruby on Rails - Strong front-end fundamentals in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, with experience building complex interactive UIs using modern component-based frameworks - Hands-on experience with AWS or another public cloud, and Linux-based infrastructure - Experience with relational databases such as Postgres - Familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools
Nice to have - Experience with ClickHouse - Experience with Hotwire, Stimulus, and Turbo - Background building cybersecurity products or operating SOC platforms
