SAP IS-U & SAP S/4HANA Consultant

Role overview This contract consulting position centers on guiding electricity and gas utilities through billing transformation on the SAP IS-U and SAP S/4HANA Utilities platform. The role blends deep functional configuration, defect resolution, and stakeholder-facing advisory work across the full Meter-to-Cash lifecycle. It is remote-based with a long-term contract horizon of roughly six to twelve months or more.

Responsibilities - Analyze business requirements and translate them into functional designs aligned with utility-industry best practices. - Configure and customize billing master data, including billing schemas, rate modeling, complex billing, and tariff structures spanning regulated and deregulated markets. - Drive end-to-end billing and invoicing processes such as Real-Time Pricing, Time-of-Use, Budget Billing, collective billing, mass batch jobs, exception management, bill simulation, and unbilled revenue scenarios. - Maintain functional documentation and deliver enhancements, troubleshooting, testing, and implementation support within agreed SLAs. - Integrate billing with Device Management, FICA, SAP IS-U Bill Print, Print Workbench, Smart Forms, and Adobe Forms. - Act as a functional liaison between business and IT, collaborate across offshore teams, and advise clients on digital transformation pathways.

Requirements - 8-10 years of hands-on SAP IS-U experience with deep functional expertise across Billing and Invoicing. - Strong background in electricity and gas utility Meter-to-Cash lifecycles. - Working knowledge of SAP S/4HANA Utilities and Fiori, including the ability to analyze, debug, and troubleshoot OData and Web Services used in integrations. - Demonstrated skill configuring billing schemas, rate models, and complex tariff scenarios. - Solid grasp of end-to-end invoicing flows such as Budget Billing, RTP, TOU, mass batch jobs, and exception management. - Strong client-facing communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving abilities.

Nice to have - Experience guiding business stakeholders on SAP best practices and functional improvement initiatives. - Familiarity with print output tooling such as Smart Forms and Adobe Forms alongside Print Workbench configuration.
