Job details
About this role
Role overview As a Staff Software Engineer focused on quality infrastructure, you’ll help an engineering organization test and release software more quickly and safely. You’ll lead work across CI/CD, test automation, temporary environments, and AI-assisted verification, setting practices that product teams can adopt. The role also includes technical mentorship and operational ownership of pipeline and test infrastructure.
Responsibilities - Build infrastructure for CI/CD, ephemeral environments, and AI-assisted testing and verification. - Develop workflows in which AI can draft test suites, scenarios, and verification artifacts, with engineering oversight and safeguards. - Establish shared measures for test completeness and track CI time, flaky test rates, and coverage of important user journeys. - Identify and remove the largest testing and delivery bottlenecks, using metrics to guide improvements. - Influence engineering practices across platform and product teams through technical leadership, written proposals, and decision records. - Participate in on-call and incident response, resolve pipeline or environment failures, and turn incidents into durable improvements. - Mentor engineers and raise quality standards through code review and documentation.
Requirements - Extensive experience in developer infrastructure, test automation, or platform engineering, including leading technical work across multiple teams. - Strong knowledge of AWS, Terraform, containers such as Docker or Kubernetes, and Postgres. - Experience owning CI/CD and automated unit and end-to-end testing used across an engineering organization. - Deep experience with Playwright or an equivalent tool, including running automated tests in CI for web and mobile applications. - Production experience with coding agents or LLM tools for test generation or verification, including understanding their limits and improving team adoption. - Ability to explain tradeoffs among customer outcomes, delivery speed, technical health, and reliability in writing and in an asynchronous work setting. - Experience mentoring intermediate and senior engineers.
Benefits and work setup - Fully remote, with eligibility limited to specified US states. - Compensation includes equity; the listed salary range is $195,000–$210,000, with the final amount dependent in part on work location and experience. - Benefits include flexible vacation, medical, dental, vision and life insurance, a 401(k), and a flexible spending account.
