Team Lead, Software Development

Role overview Lead a software development team building and scaling billing services for a SaaS product. You will combine people leadership with hands-on engineering, helping shape the technical direction while contributing to reliable systems for account management, pricing, subscriptions, compliance, and payment processing. The position is based in Canada, in locations where employment is permitted.

Responsibilities - Build and support a cohesive engineering team, partnering with development leadership on hiring and team growth. - Coach developers through regular career and performance conversations, pairing, and feedback. - Prioritize team work, delegate effectively, and encourage engineers to take ownership of delivery. - Design, implement, test, and deploy scalable software while maintaining security, reliability, performance, and quality. - Contribute to the technical roadmap as services scale and new product needs emerge. - Share information, solicit feedback, and coordinate work across teams and portfolios.

Requirements - A computer science or engineering degree, or equivalent practical experience. - At least five years designing, developing, and maintaining software, with substantial contributions to impactful projects. - Proficiency in Go, Scala, or a comparable programming language, and willingness to learn others. - Understanding of distributed systems and high-availability environments. - Experience mentoring, coaching, or pairing with colleagues. - Strong collaboration, problem-solving, communication, and adaptability skills.

Nice to have - Experience developing SaaS products. - Familiarity with tools and approaches such as Docker, Jenkins, Kafka, Redis, MySQL, PHP, React, TypeScript, domain-driven design, event sourcing, test-driven development, and Agile practices.

Benefits and work setup - The stated Canadian salary range is CAD $98,400–$137,800.
