Senior Engineer - Platform
Job details
About this role
Role overview Build and operate the shared cloud and Kubernetes foundations that help product teams deliver software securely and reliably. This hands-on senior engineering role covers platform design through production operation, with a focus on self-service infrastructure, multi-cluster resilience, and solving distributed-systems challenges as workloads grow.
Responsibilities - Own substantial parts of an AWS and multi-cluster Kubernetes platform, from design to ongoing operation. - Create reusable automation and self-service patterns for secure, consistent infrastructure across regions and isolated environments. - Improve Kubernetes networking, upgrades, patching, scaling, observability, capacity management, and recovery. - Develop regional architecture, traffic routing, disaster recovery, and tested failover capabilities. - Make deployments safer through secure defaults, progressive delivery, automated checks, clear health signals, and rapid rollback. - Diagnose issues across services, data stores, networks, and platform boundaries; turn incidents and capacity limits into lasting improvements. - Document systems, lead design discussions, review code, and mentor other engineers.
Requirements - Production experience with AWS, Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code, such as Terraform. - Experience owning production systems through growth, incidents, failures, and migrations. - Background building CI/CD, internal platform, or self-service capabilities that help engineers deliver safely. - Strong reliability practices, including observability, incident response, recovery testing, and operational improvement. - Clear communication and ability to navigate ambiguity, explain trade-offs, and drive cross-team work.
Nice to have - Experience with multi-region or multi-cluster systems, traffic routing, and disaster recovery. - Knowledge of progressive delivery, deployment guardrails, identity or compliance controls, and databases, caches, or queues.
Benefits and work setup - Fully remote, with work location in an ANZ or Pacific time zone; employees may work from anywhere for up to six weeks per year. - Benefits include paid annual and sick leave, parental leave, a remote-work allowance, learning support, confidential mental health resources, and region-dependent retirement and health coverage.
