Senior Staff Product Designer - AI | Deel

Role overview Lead product design for AI experiences across a global workforce platform, while helping product teams bring useful AI capabilities into their own areas. The work spans hands-on design of conversational interfaces and agent workflows, as well as shared patterns and standards that make the overall product feel consistent. You’ll collaborate with design, machine learning, and cross-functional partners and help grow the AI design practice.

Responsibilities - Set design direction for AI interactions, including chat actions, agent workflows, proactive alerts, anomaly detection, and human review points. - Create reusable AI design patterns and standards with the design system team. - Partner with other teams to identify and design appropriate AI use cases, demonstrating effective approaches through hands-on work. - Use research, competitor reviews, and regular product testing to maintain design quality. - Work across functions, make decisions independently, and adapt as priorities shift. - Mentor designers and contribute to the growth of the AI design practice.

Requirements - 8+ years in product design, including at least 3 years at Staff level or above. - Deep experience designing AI products, such as conversational interfaces, agents, copilots, or automation, ideally from early concept through scale. - A shipped AI product feature with demonstrable results and the ability to explain its problem, research, prototyping, launch, and outcome. - A strong portfolio with at least one detailed case study. - Regular use of AI tools in design work and an interest in following new capabilities. - Systems thinking and comfort collaborating with machine learning engineers on error handling and confidence thresholds. - Clear communication and comfort working in a fast-moving environment.

Nice to have - Ability to implement and ship design work to production. - Experience applying behavioral science to AI products. - Experience or personal projects related to payroll, HR, fintech, or compliance.
