Sr. Forward Deployed Data Engineer - LATAM
Job details
About this role
Role overview This role supports the expansion of a data science-driven growth platform into Latin America as one of the founding technical hires in the region. The engineer will deploy enterprise customers end to end, choosing between managed ClickHouse or warehouse-native architectures, and ensure the platform's AI agents have a high-fidelity, semantically consistent view of each customer's data.
Responsibilities - Own the technical implementation of new enterprise customers across Latin America, from initial data discovery through production deployment. - Choose and execute the best deployment path per customer, including managed ClickHouse or warehouse-native approaches in Snowflake or BigQuery. - Use internal data discovery tooling to accelerate onboarding, generate mappings, and move from raw data to a working v1 pipeline quickly. - Architect semantic definitions for custom enterprise datasets so the agentic conversation engine can reason accurately without hallucination. - Transform diverse source data into canonical growth models that power downstream ML systems. - Act as a lead technical resource for high-stakes enterprise implementations, ensuring stack performance within each customer's infrastructure. - Help define the technical processes, best practices, and operating model used as the regional customer base and engineering team scale.
Requirements - Professional fluency in English and Spanish, with the ability to work directly with customers and internal teams in both languages. - Comfort optimizing ClickHouse queries, writing native Snowpark or BigQuery SQL, and implementing orchestration in Python. - Experience with modern data orchestration and ingestion tools, such as Dagster and Airbyte. - Strong understanding of data semantics and the discipline to define meaning behind tables, not just move rows. - Ability to earn the trust of a customer's Data Architect, understand custom business logic, and translate it into platform-ready definitions. - Comfort working directly with enterprise customers, including on-site travel for onboarding and key deployment milestones. - Comfort collaborating across time zones with teams in the US and Europe.
Nice to have - Professional or working Portuguese, particularly for engagements in Brazil. - Deep experience with dbt for warehouse-native modeling. - Familiarity with multiple modern data warehouse solutions and their respective optimization strategies. - Experience with semantic layer frameworks such as Cube or MetricQL. - Background in e-commerce, retail, marketplaces, or consumer technology, with understanding of revenue metrics, order lifecycle, LTV, CAC, and attribution. - Experience building agentic workflows. - Experience operating in an early-stage startup or building a new regional engineering function.
Benefits and work setup - Remote-first within Latin America to start, with regular regional travel for customer deployments. - Future relocation within Latin America may be required once a regional hub is established. - Direct collaboration with teams across the US and Europe.
