Software Engineer, Streaming Systems
Job details
About this role
Role overview
This engineering role joins a streaming systems team building the high-throughput infrastructure that ingests billions of behavioral events into an agentic marketing platform. The work powers an AI-agent product for marketers, with systems that must handle millions of messages per second at single-second end-to-end latency, including a newly added real-time personalization computation engine. The position comes with high ownership and autonomy over projects from start to finish.
Responsibilities
- Build and operate high-throughput streaming pipelines that collect, forward, and compute on behavioral events at scale - Design and scale real-time personalization systems that react to live user behavior with low end-to-end latency - Drive technical decisions across the streaming product surface, from ingestion through downstream serving - Work directly with customers to understand and solve their hardest scaling problems - Shape the team's technical roadmap with significant influence over architecture and tooling choices
Requirements
- Experience with, or strong ability to quickly build, distributed systems and high-scale systems engineering skills - Comfort working in a fast-paced, startup-style environment with high ownership - Solid engineering fundamentals and a passion for solving hard technical problems that produce real customer value
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience with streaming systems such as Kafka, Kinesis, Pulsar, or Warpstream - Background building high-RPS, low p99-latency systems
Benefits and work setup
- Base salary range: $180,000–$400,000 USD per year, location-independent under a remote-first policy - Meaningful equity compensation - Interview process includes a recruiter screen, two system-design sessions, and a hiring manager interview focused on system design rather than code puzzles
