Role overview
Versatile full-stack engineer joining an Agile team to build complex, scalable software spanning legacy mainframe and modern open systems. The mission centers on end-to-end development with a strong emphasis on AI and automation, code quality, and mentoring junior engineers. US citizenship is required due to contractual and access requirements.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy solutions spanning mainframe (COBOL, JCL, DB2) and modern stacks including Java, Python, C#, RESTful APIs, and microservices - Champion AI and automation strategies throughout the software development lifecycle to improve efficiency and accelerate delivery - Write maintainable, high-quality code and conduct thorough code reviews against documented standards - Participate fully in Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning, and user story definition and refinement - Mentor associate engineers on mainframe, AI, open systems, and automation best practices - Track work against production schedules, communicate blockers promptly, and report progress to leads
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related field - 3+ years designing scalable, highly available systems with a strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and design patterns - 3+ years of experience in at least one modern programming language such as Java, Python, or JavaScript - 3+ years working with web services such as REST, HTTPS, JSON, and front-end technologies - Working knowledge of databases (SQL plus relational or non-relational), DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and AI/ML concepts - US citizenship required
Nice to have
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field - 5+ years with general purpose languages such as Java, Python, C/C++, C#, or Go - 5+ years defining system architectures and weighing short-term execution against long-term technical capabilities - Prior experience building healthcare solutions or working with regulated data environments - Familiarity with Agile tooling and on-call or production support rotations
