About this role
Role overview
Build a customer-facing automation product that helps healthcare organizations streamline clinical and operational work. As an early engineer on the team, you will shape the event pipeline, workflow triggers and actions, and the interface customers use to configure automations. The role spans product engineering and backend reliability, with a focus on understanding customer pain points and making complex workflows easier to manage.
Responsibilities - Expand workflow automation across scheduling, charting, billing, messaging, and patient engagement. - Build and maintain the triggers and actions that let customers respond to events in their workflows. - Design reliable execution infrastructure, including retries, idempotency, error handling, failure visibility, and clear feedback when workflows do not run as expected. - Create an accessible workflow builder for customers to configure and manage automations without technical expertise. - Explore AI and language model capabilities for more adaptive workflows, assessing their impact on customer efficiency and operational outcomes. - Own features from architecture through delivery and collaborate with engineering, product, security, and operations teams.
Requirements - Strong product engineering skills and empathy for customer needs, including the ability to identify patterns in customer problems. - Experience designing and building scalable, reliable software and delivering features end to end. - Ability to explain technical choices clearly to technical and nontechnical colleagues. - Experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS, and modern CI/CD practices. - Familiarity with event-driven systems, workflow orchestration or scheduling, relational databases, and background processing. - Strong troubleshooting skills and understanding of observability and production reliability.
Nice to have - Experience in healthcare technology, EHR platforms, or other regulated environments, including knowledge of healthcare data privacy. - Experience with Ruby on Rails, React, GraphQL, AI development tools, or language model APIs. - Background automating clinical operations, billing, claims, or patient engagement workflows.
Benefits and work setup - Full-time remote role based in the United States. U.S. work authorization is required; sponsorship is not available. - Base compensation is $190,000–$220,000.
