About this role

Role overview A Principal Product Manager is needed to own the workflow surface of a product built specifically for accountants. The mission is to make the platform the most efficient place for accountants to deliver payroll and advisory services to their small business clients, with significant downstream impact on revenue and small-business growth. The role sits on a lean product team and blends long-range strategy with hands-on building in an AI-first environment.

Responsibilities - Lead product discovery to deeply understand customer problems and test risky assumptions early - Set a long-term vision and strategy that identifies large problems worth solving with durable competitive advantage - Build iteratively to validate hypotheses quickly and gather signal on new concepts - Partner closely with Engineering, Design, and Data Science across every stage of product development - Execute and iterate rapidly, emphasizing user delight, measurable impact, and continuous learning - Define, track, and improve key product and business metrics in foundational areas such as task coordination, roles and permissions, reporting, and other day-to-day workflows - Balance hands-on building with strategic storytelling that creates clarity and real user value

Requirements - 8+ years of hands-on product management experience and/or product leadership experience - Proven track record of leading research and development teams that ship impactful results - Natural curiosity, grit, customer obsession, and humility - Expert product discovery and analytical skills - Ability to tell a compelling story that drives alignment and inspires action - Exceptional collaboration skills with the ability to quickly build trust with teams and customers - Passion for helping small and medium-sized businesses succeed - Strong point of view and demonstrated impact building products in the age of AI

Nice to have - Candidates who do not meet every criterion are still encouraged to apply; the team values enthusiasm and a learning mindset over a perfect checklist match

Benefits and work setup - Cash compensation listed at $210,000 to $263,000 per year for New York and San Francisco; final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate location, experience, and expertise - Full-time employees receive competitive base pay, benefits, and equity so that contributors share in the company's success - Offices in Denver, San Francisco, and New York, with remote team members across the US and Canada - Active hiring for the New York office - Hybrid expectation of approximately 2 to 3 days per week in office (or more depending on role) for employees based in office locations - A secure, reliable internet connection is required when working from a non-office location
