About this role
Role overview
This position sits at the intersection of competitive gaming knowledge and quantitative trading, supporting a sportsbook's esports pricing operation with a primary focus on League of Legends and the wider MOBA scene. The analyst partners with live and pre-match traders to study match data, market behaviour, and gameplay patterns in order to sharpen odds accuracy, surface pricing inefficiencies, and ultimately protect and grow profit-and-loss across MOBA betting products. It is a hands-on analytical role for someone who enjoys translating patch notes, draft trends, and in-game macro decisions into measurable trading improvements.
Responsibilities
- Analyse MOBA match behaviour and market activity to refine pricing accuracy and overall market efficiency. - Run variance analyses and trading performance reviews, flagging anomalies that affect P&L. - Validate and monitor odds models for MOBA titles under live trading conditions, including detecting model drift and pricing inefficiencies. - Track competitive offerings and propose strategic adjustments to trading approaches. - Break down game-specific factors such as champion drafts, item builds, map objectives, compositions, gold leads, and macro strategy, and explain how patch or rule changes could shift model assumptions. - Translate findings into clear narratives for traders and other stakeholders, documenting processes to a high standard.
Requirements
- Deep familiarity with League of Legends and the broader competitive MOBA ecosystem, including draft trends, meta shifts, and patch-driven gameplay changes. - Solid grasp of trading fundamentals such as pricing, margin, overround, and risk models. - Strong statistical, mathematical, and analytical skills applied to pricing and risk problems. - Practical experience with statistical modelling and data analysis. - Sharp attention to detail, the ability to retain complex information, and a deadline-driven, can-do attitude. - Willingness to learn and adapt quickly to new environments and changing metas.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of additional competitive MOBA titles and esports ecosystems. - Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Data Science, or a related field. - Familiarity with machine-learning concepts and their practical applications. - Working skills in SQL, Python, R, or comparable analytical tools.
