Senior Web Developer
Job details
About this role
Role overview
This role owns a marketing website end-to-end as the sole developer, shaping architecture, build, and ongoing maintenance. The position pairs deep front-end engineering with CMS expertise and enough back-end fluency to keep the technical foundation healthy, while acting as a thoughtful partner to marketing on goals and tradeoffs rather than simply executing requests.
Responsibilities
- Build reusable UI components using React, Tailwind CSS or Bootstrap, and Storybook. - Create responsive, accessible, and semantic templates that align with brand and UX standards. - Implement modern build tools and workflows such as Webpack or Vite. - Develop and maintain custom themes, templates, plugins, or content models across traditional and headless CMS platforms. - Integrate with REST APIs and/or GraphQL for dynamic, decoupled, or headless implementations. - Navigate server environments, read logs, run SQL queries, and support web server configuration including redirects and caching. - Apply CMS hardening best practices and follow OWASP Top 10 guidelines to prevent XSS, CSRF, and SQL injection. - Optimize for Core Web Vitals through caching, code splitting, and image/CDN optimization. - Implement structured data and schema markup, and align templates with accessibility, search, and AI discoverability goals. - Document code, architectural decisions, and technical standards for maintainability and scalability.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on front-end and CMS work, including WordPress and/or a headless platform like Contentful, with content modeling and API-driven delivery. - Strong React, TypeScript or JavaScript, Tailwind or Bootstrap, and Storybook experience, with solid PHP and/or Node.js, HTML5, and CSS3 fundamentals. - Comfort on the server side: reading logs, writing SQL queries, working in a Linux/Unix shell, and basic Nginx/Apache configuration. - Working knowledge of technical SEO and AEO, including semantic HTML, structured data, and Core Web Vitals. - Understanding of CMS security hardening and OWASP guidelines. - Comfort in Git-based agile or sprint workflows.
Nice to have
- Experience across both traditional and headless or API-first CMS platforms such as Contentful, Sanity, or Storyblok. - Next.js, Gatsby, or other headless framework experience. - CRM and marketing platform integration experience with tools like Marketo, HubSpot, or Salesforce. - Containerized local dev environments such as Docker, Lando, or DevKinsta. - Cloud hosting experience with Netlify, Vercel, AWS, or similar providers.
Benefits and work setup
- Remote position.
