About this role
Role overview
A 6-week paid remote internship designed for third- and fourth-year undergraduates or recent graduates who want to expand the public data sources that power a government contracting intelligence platform. The position blends software engineering, web research, and hands-on ownership of data quality, contributing directly to the data products that public-sector offices and contractors rely on. Interns gain firsthand experience building trustworthy data infrastructure inside a high-velocity startup environment.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain data scrapers and ingestion pipelines for public-sector data sources across the United States - Use internal tooling and AI-assisted agents to research sources, design extraction approaches, and accelerate implementation - Validate incoming data for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability before it reaches downstream users - Monitor live sources, investigate failures or format changes, and improve scraper resilience over time - Document source behavior, extraction logic, and data-quality checks so systems stay maintainable - Support other technical and operational work across the team as needed
Requirements
- Experience with TypeScript; Python is also valuable for data collection and analysis - Familiarity with web scraping or browser automation using tools such as BeautifulSoup, Playwright, or Selenium - Comfort working with HTML, APIs, structured and unstructured data, and common formats like JSON and CSV - Strong attention to detail and an ownership mindset for data quality - Familiarity with Git, debugging, and writing clear technical documentation - Interest in using AI agents effectively while carefully validating their output
Nice to have
- Curiosity about public-sector data and the persistence to work through inconsistent websites and source formats - Strong software fundamentals and a willingness to dig into unfamiliar systems; web scraping experience is helpful but not required
Benefits and work setup
- Fully remote - Paid 6-week internship - Expected start date: November 1, 2026 - Exposure to how a fast-moving startup builds dependable data products, including defining reliable processes, anticipating downstream effects, and making careful tradeoffs that protect data quality
