Role overview A remote-first infrastructure security company is hiring a senior backend engineer to lead performance and scalability work on its core identity-based infrastructure product. The role covers the full product lifecycle: learning directly from customers, drafting design proposals, implementing, testing, and documenting, with most code written in Go and contributed back to an open-source codebase. It suits someone who enjoys pushing distributed systems to their limits while keeping reliability and security front and center.
Responsibilities - Become a subject-matter expert on scalability, performance, and reliability of the platform inside large customer deployments. - Design, develop, and ship high-quality product features end to end. - Write the majority of production code in Go as part of an open-source project. - Collaborate closely with adjacent engineering teams on shared scalability and performance initiatives. - Work directly with customers to diagnose and remediate performance issues in their environments. - Deepen your technical expertise through ownership of complex systems work.
Requirements - A builder's mentality with hands-on experience taking products from zero to one. - Extensive professional experience writing Go in production. - Extensive experience designing scalable, performant, and reliable distributed systems and platforms. - Strong Linux systems engineering background. - Working knowledge of identity management, RBAC, ABAC, and zero-trust security models. - Intellectual curiosity, willingness to master new technologies, and a transparent, no-ego mindset.
