Senior Software Engineer - Delivery Tech

Role overview

This role focuses on building and maintaining the backend services that power a rapid-delivery commerce platform serving everyday consumer needs, from snacks and household goods to last-minute essentials. As a Senior Software Engineer on the delivery technology team, you will help shape systems covering driver compensation, pricing, dispatch optimization, ETA prediction, routing, and the driver-facing application.

Responsibilities

- Design, build, and operate services for driver pay, pricing logic, dispatch optimization, ETA calculation, and routing at scale - Partner with product, engineering leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders to evaluate technology choices and plan long-term technical direction - Mentor other engineers, lead code and design reviews, and raise the bar for engineering standards across the team - Maintain production reliability through monitoring, analytics, and participation in on-call rotations - Apply standard practices including idiomatic syntax, design patterns, and test-driven development while shipping your own code

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience - 5+ years of professional software engineering experience - Proficiency with modern web, frontend, backend, or cloud application development - Strong grasp of object-oriented programming concepts - Hands-on experience building highly scalable, high-throughput systems and designing extensible APIs

Nice to have

- Production experience with Go, Java, Python, Flutter, or Node.js, with openness to learning additional languages - Experience designing microservices in distributed environments and working with event-driven or message-based architectures, including asynchronous transactional patterns - Public cloud production experience on Azure or GCP - Familiarity with operations, monitoring, and deployment methodologies for distributed systems
