Senior Software Engineer - Backend

Role overview This is a senior backend role on the team building an Internal Developer Platform used by over a thousand engineers to design, deploy, and operate cloud-based software. The hire will own significant platform components end-to-end, contributing to scalable APIs, infrastructure orchestration, and AI-powered developer tooling across chat-based and agentic workflows. The position is fully remote within the United States, with occasional in-person team events, and involves partnering closely with infrastructure, security, and platform teams on a small, cross-functional agile squad.

Responsibilities - Design, build, and ship platform services and features consumed by more than a thousand engineers across the organization. - Contribute to the design of high-scale APIs, infrastructure orchestration, and metadata systems supporting a unified developer experience. - Build AI-powered developer tooling, including chat-based and agentic workflows that improve daily productivity. - Partner with infrastructure, security, and platform teams to integrate core capabilities into the platform. - Own components in production, including performance, reliability, debugging of complex production issues, and participation in on-call rotation. - Lead code reviews, contribute to sprint planning, raise the testing quality bar, and mentor teammates.

Requirements - Professional backend engineering experience with Node.js and TypeScript, including designing RESTful APIs with versioning and contracts. - Experience building on AWS using services such as ECS or Fargate, DynamoDB, RDS or Aurora, and IAM. - Full-stack capability with React and Next.js for internal platform UIs. - Solid distributed-systems fundamentals, including data modeling, caching, consistency, and system design. - CI/CD and testing expertise with GitHub Actions and unit or integration testing practices. - Comfort working in Scrum with a genuine interest in improving both the product and the process, plus curiosity about AI tooling and a habit of integrating it into everyday work.

Nice to have - Experience with an Internal Developer Platform or developer-tooling ecosystem. - Familiarity with LLM or AI integrations, agentic workflows, or prompt engineering. - Exposure to ServiceNow, CMDB, or enterprise metadata systems. - Infrastructure-as-code experience with CDK, Terraform, or CloudFormation. - Knowledge of security and secrets management using Vault, IAM, and compliance practices. - Contributions to internal open-source projects or technology working groups.
