Job details
About this role
Role overview Evaluate the quality of AI coding agents’ work in realistic software development scenarios. The focus is on whether their decisions, explanations, and user guidance meet the standards of an experienced engineer; this is an assessment role rather than production software development.
Responsibilities - Review AI-generated coding exchanges end to end and judge their usefulness and high-level correctness. - Evaluate the quality of explanations and reasoning as well as the proposed code. - Apply consistent distinctions between weaker, acceptable, and excellent responses. - Provide clear written feedback on what worked, what was incomplete, or what could mislead a developer. - Contribute to defining standards for helpful and trustworthy AI-assisted development.
Requirements - Senior, staff, principal, or comparable software engineering experience. - Strong background in Go, TypeScript/JavaScript, or Python. - Practical experience with at least one AI coding assistant and strong familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows. - Ability to evaluate engineering work without needing to execute every suggestion or inspect every line. - Strong written and spoken English (B2 or above), including detailed feedback and short recorded explanations. - Willingness to make candid, reasoned judgments and maintain a high engineering standard.
Nice to have - Exposure to prompt design or evaluation processes. - Experience mentoring senior engineers or defining engineering practices.
Benefits and work setup - Remote contract work available worldwide, with flexible hours of roughly 10–20 per week. - Listed rate is $100–$200 per hour, depending on experience and location. - Ongoing opportunities consist of projects lasting around two weeks to a few months, with possible follow-on work based on performance. - The selection process includes a take-home exercise and recorded walkthrough; work starts when an evaluation is cleared and a project has capacity.
