Role overview A senior product designer opportunity at a high-growth AI productivity startup where the design philosophy starts with human behavior rather than screens or components. As the most senior design hire, the role carries real influence over both what gets built and how the organization thinks about the people it serves. The work centers on AI-driven experiences such as live transcription, personalized drafts, and cross-surface workflows that need to feel effortless despite significant underlying complexity.
Responsibilities - Lead interaction design for AI-powered features including real-time note-taking, personalized draft generation, and seamless web and mobile web experiences - Own end-to-end product design from research through delivery, partnering directly with engineers - Run independent user research, including customer interviews and session recordings, and translate findings into design decisions - Maintain and evolve the design system and component library so it plugs cleanly into engineering workflows - Advocate for human-behavior-first thinking across product, experience, and communication decisions company-wide - Shape custom internal tooling that keeps design and engineering aligned as the team moves quickly with AI-assisted development
Requirements - 5+ years designing products in high-growth, early-stage environments where structure was built rather than inherited - Deep, hands-on familiarity with Figma, ShadCN, and Tailwind CSS, including understanding their limits - Track record designing around AI-generated outputs and thinking carefully about the UX implications - Strong interaction design craft demonstrated through a portfolio of complex, multi-surface products - Comfort working close to implementation and discussing technical constraints with engineers - Self-directed user research skills and the willingness to defend or change decisions based on evidence
Nice to have - Familiarity with PostHog, Miro, Lucide, and V0 - Experience designing mobile-first or mobile web experiences
