Job details
About this role
Role overview
An associate-level architecture seat on an eCommerce engineering team, focused on planning and technical guidance rather than hands-on implementation. The platform is a React-based storefront running on Cloudflare Workers with a Salesforce Commerce Cloud backend, so most time goes to architecture, requirements translation, and proof-of-concept work, while implementation is delegated to developers and AI agents. It suits an experienced SFCC developer who wants to transition into a fuller architecture role under direct mentorship.
Responsibilities
- Support business partners by researching and preparing technical and process recommendations and project estimates under senior architectural guidance. - Translate business requirements into system requirements and design specifications, document them, and flag interface issues for review. - Author high-level code for proof-of-concepts, technical drafts, and architectural spikes to validate design direction, then guide and review implementation done by developers or AI agents. - Help establish technical standards, collaborate on design decisions, and participate in peer code and design reviews plus knowledge-sharing. - Support third-party integrations such as payments, CMS, search, analytics/CDP, and benefits/CRM, and contribute to cross-functional platform work across SFCC, Cloudflare Workers, and React. - Build functional knowledge of both B2C and B2B eCommerce processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in IT or a related functional business area, or equivalent experience. - At least 3 years of hands-on SFCC experience. - At least 3 years of JavaScript, TypeScript, or equivalent experience, with a working understanding of object-oriented programming. - Experience with, or strong interest in, Cloudflare Workers and React. - Comfort designing within data-privacy constraints, including healthcare-adjacent commerce and regulated data handling. - Familiarity with web analytics and CDP integrations such as GA4/GTM or Segment, plus comfort writing SQL against a data warehouse like BigQuery. - Ability to balance multiple priorities, take initiative, and communicate clearly in a fast-paced team environment.
Nice to have
- SFCC Developer certification (DiD/CIP) or willingness to obtain within a defined period. - Exposure to B2B, B2C, or multi-site SFCC eCommerce implementations. - Experience with headless or composable SFCC patterns such as SCAPI, SLAS, or PWA Kit, and hybrid storefront architectures. - Familiarity with edge storage and compute primitives like KV, D1, Durable Objects, or Queues. - Some experience with XML data import/export activities.
Benefits and work setup
- Compensation range of $120,000 to $160,000 plus discretionary annual bonus eligibility up to 10%. - Medical, dental, and vision coverage plus a 401K with company match. - Dependent Care, FSA, and HSA accounts, paid parental and bonding leave, flexible PTO, and office closure on major holidays. - Monthly wellness and internet reimbursements, professional development support including certification and leadership coaching, and mental health resources. - 100% remote within the United States, with a requirement to work Eastern Standard Time hours.
