R&D Global Director

Role overview Lead a globally distributed Java engineering organization responsible for designing, delivering, and modernizing enterprise software. The role combines strategic direction with delivery oversight: you will guide multiple teams, maintain customer commitments, and strengthen engineering practices while advancing the platform over time.

Responsibilities - Direct engineering managers, technical leads, and developers across regions, setting priorities and clear accountability. - Oversee software design, development, modernization, and release planning across concurrent initiatives. - Improve software quality, build stability, development efficiency, and release reliability through standards, automation, and governance. - Balance delivery commitments with technical debt and longer-term platform improvements. - Coordinate with product, professional services, quality, DevOps, IT, and other stakeholders on plans and dependencies. - Build a culture of ownership, technical excellence, professional growth, and continuous improvement.

Requirements - Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, engineering, or a related technical field. - At least 10 years of Java development experience, including substantial leadership or management experience. - Track record delivering complex enterprise software and leading geographically distributed teams across time zones and cultures. - Strong knowledge of Java, Spring, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and front-end frameworks such as JSF/MyFaces or React. - Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, SQL, and ORM tools such as Hibernate or JPA. - Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum, cloud platforms, containers, and engineering tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Git.

Nice to have - Experience with CMMI frameworks, organizational transformation, or large-scale platform modernization.
