This full-time remote Python Developer role supports a client engagement in the insurance industry, building and maintaining backend services that power core business processes. The work spans policy, claims, underwriting, and billing systems, with hands-on responsibility for REST APIs, data automation, and cloud-based deployments. The position balances delivery cadence with code quality, testing, and ongoing production support.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Python applications that support insurance workflows, including policy, claims, underwriting, and billing. - Build REST APIs and backend services, integrating internal and external systems through APIs and web services. - Create data-processing and automation solutions using Python and SQL, working with relational databases and tuning queries. - Develop on Django, Flask, or FastAPI and collaborate with business and technical teams in an Agile/Scrum setting. - Support cloud deployments and CI/CD pipelines, plus unit testing, debugging, production support, performance optimization, and secure development practices.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on Python backend development experience, including building REST APIs and backend services. - Practical experience with Django, Flask, or FastAPI. - Proficiency with SQL, relational databases, data processing, and query optimization. - Experience integrating systems through APIs and web services and supporting cloud-based deployments with CI/CD. - Comfort with unit testing, debugging, production support, performance optimization, and secure coding best practices.
Nice to have
- Seven or more years of software development experience. - Prior exposure to insurance systems or business processes such as policy, claims, underwriting, or billing. - Broader experience across Python web frameworks, cloud deployment environments, or CI/CD tooling.
