About this role
Role overview A fully remote engineering role on civic technology programs serving state and federal government agencies. The position spans the full stack, combining automated testing, scripting, front-end tooling, and cloud pipeline work, while acting as a technical liaison guiding outside vendor teams toward modern delivery practices.
Responsibilities - Architect and maintain end-to-end UI and API test suites using Playwright and TypeScript across several product areas. - Build automated test data generators and synthetic profile creators in Python that replace manual setup steps. - Develop React and TypeScript front-end utilities that let vendor teams and stakeholders trigger test scenarios and inspect pipeline status. - Design, maintain, and tune CI/CD pipelines that enforce quality gates and feature-driven promotions. - Participate in rotating sprint triage to diagnose failures in a multi-vendor ecosystem and determine whether root causes lie in cloud changes, vendor releases, or test configuration. - Conduct code reviews, mentor teammates, set coding standards, and act as a trusted technical contact for client leads and external partners. - Support Terraform-based cloud infrastructure updates, embed security scanning, and operate within FedRAMP and Public Trust compliance.
Requirements - 10+ years of professional full-stack development experience using TypeScript and Python. - Hands-on experience authoring CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code with Terraform. - Background designing systems that integrate with multiple external services, databases, and third-party APIs. - Demonstrated success on cross-functional projects, including estimating work and communicating technical updates to client stakeholders. - Strong debugging skills for distributed, multi-vendor application failures and microservices. - Prior work on federal government digital service or civic tech initiatives. - Familiarity with AWS GovCloud, FedRAMP standards, and observability tooling. - Experience building synthetic test data generators or complex mock data services.
Benefits and work setup Fully remote within the continental U.S., with occasional travel roughly one to two times per year. U.S. work authorization is required and visa sponsorship is not available; candidates may be subject to government background checks or security clearance depending on the contract.
