Job details
About this role
Role overview A fully remote senior engineering role on civic technology programs that modernize systems for state and federal government partners. The position spans the full stack, covering Playwright test automation, Python scripting, React-based self-service tooling, and AWS CI/CD pipelines, while serving as a technical guide for outside vendor teams adopting modern delivery practices.
Responsibilities - Architect and maintain end-to-end UI and API test suites using Playwright and TypeScript across multiple product verticals. - Build automated data generation tools and synthetic applicant profile generators in Python using REST APIs to replace manual setup. - Develop React and TypeScript front-end utilities that enable stakeholders and vendor teams to trigger test scenarios on demand and view pipeline status. - Construct, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines that enforce quality gates and feature-driven promotions. - Participate in rotating sprint triage to debug failures across a multi-vendor environment and identify whether issues stem from cloud changes, vendor releases, or test configuration. - Lead code reviews and one-on-one mentorship, raise code quality standards, and shape team-wide development patterns. - Serve as a technical liaison to client leads and external vendor teams, advocating for developer self-service and smooth release gatekeeping. - Support Terraform-based cloud infrastructure updates, embed automated security scanning, and operate within FedRAMP and Public Trust compliance processes.
Requirements - 5+ years of professional full-stack development experience using TypeScript and Python. - Hands-on experience writing CI/CD pipelines and using Terraform for infrastructure-as-code. - Background designing systems that integrate with multiple external services, databases, and third-party APIs. - Proven track record on cross-functional agile teams, including estimation and client-facing communication. - Strong diagnostic skills for distributed, multi-vendor application failures and microservices. - Prior federal government or civic tech project experience. - Familiarity with AWS GovCloud, FedRAMP standards, and observability tooling. - Experience implementing synthetic test data generators or complex mock data services.
Benefits and work setup Fully remote within the continental U.S. Occasional travel may be required, roughly one to two times per year. U.S. work authorization is required without visa sponsorship; candidates may be subject to government background checks or security clearance depending on the contract.
