Staff Software Engineer, Healthcare — Systems & Integrations

Role overview A hands-on, product-oriented Staff Software Engineer is needed to lead the technical evolution of systems that underpin reliable healthcare delivery operations. The role combines deep backend ownership with cross-team architecture leadership, shaping APIs, integrations, and distributed services as the operational network grows. The position carries staff-level scope, including mentorship, design review authority, and direct partnership with operations, supply chain, finance, and customer-facing teams.

Responsibilities - Own end-to-end software for fulfillment, maintenance, inventory, and flight workflows that support healthcare logistics. - Lead architecture across multiple teams, from data models and API contracts through implementation, rollout, and ongoing operation. - Design resilient APIs, backend services, and integration patterns linking field operations, internal teams, and customer-facing products. - Build modular, event-driven systems capable of evolving with operational and business needs. - Improve reliability, observability, automated testing, and operational decision-making for critical workflows. - Establish engineering standards through design reviews, code review, mentoring, and technical leadership.

Requirements - 10+ years of production software engineering experience, including staff-level technical scope. - Background spanning both a high-engineering-bar organization at scale and an early-stage or scale-up environment with limited DevOps support. - Deep production expertise in Go, with the ability to set backend technical direction and develop other engineers' Go capability. - Experience designing and operating distributed, event-driven systems, with Kafka or comparable technologies. - Strong database design and performance experience, including Postgres. - Track record of owning architecture across teams, leading significant migrations, mentoring engineers, and working with customers or external stakeholders. - Clear, effective communication in English.

Nice to have - Experience integrating with external partner APIs or partner systems. - Designing reliable integration points covering authentication, error handling, observability, and workflow orchestration. - Healthcare, fulfillment, logistics, warehouse-management, or e-commerce systems background.

Benefits and work setup - US-based starting cash range of $180,000 to $220,000, with additional compensation potentially including equity, overtime pay, discretionary bonuses, sales incentives, medical, dental, and vision insurance, and paid time off. - Candidates must be able to work from the US East Coast or London, UK, with travel to Africa approximately three times per year.
