Job details
About this role
Role overview
This is a staff-level full-stack engineering role shaping the customer experience of software used by healthcare partners to order, track, and manage deliveries. The position blends hands-on product engineering with technical leadership, focused on building trustworthy, intuitive interfaces for users who are often not readily available for day-to-day feedback. The engineer will raise the bar for design quality, user research practices, and gradual release approaches across the team.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of customer-facing applications that support ordering, tracking, and delivery operations - Own major projects end to end, from user flows and UX decisions through architecture, data modeling, full-stack implementation, and post-launch measurement - Build fast feedback loops through direct customer conversations, analytics, support signals, limited releases, and structured experiments - Establish feature-flag, beta, and phased-rollout practices that validate changes with subsets of customers before broad release - Push the quality bar on frontend UX, interaction patterns, accessibility, and overall product polish - Partner with operations, supply chain, finance, and customer-facing teams to identify and solve high-impact user problems - Improve reliability, testing, and observability practices across owned applications - Mentor engineers and help set product-minded technical standards across the team
Requirements
- 10+ years of production software engineering experience, including staff-level technical scope - Deep full-stack experience with a modern frontend framework such as React, plus strong backend capability in Go, Python, or a comparable language - Track record of building external customer-facing products where UX affects adoption, trust, and business outcomes - Demonstrated customer obsession, including direct user engagement and translating insight into product improvements - Strong independent design and UX judgment, able to make high-quality decisions without relying on a dedicated designer - Experience with feature flags, beta programs, structured experiments, or phased rollouts - History of owning architecture across teams, mentoring engineers, and leading delivery in ambiguous, fast-changing environments - Clear, effective English communication - Ability to work from the US East Coast or London, UK, with approximately three trips per year to Africa
Nice to have
- Background in e-commerce, marketplaces, or other high-expectation external customer experiences - Measurable improvements to conversion, activation, retention, satisfaction, or usability - Experience with healthcare, fulfillment, logistics, warehouse-management, or supply-chain products
Benefits and work setup
- US-based starting cash range of $180,000–$220,000, with the final offer depending on experience, skills, working location, and projected impact - Total compensation may include equity, overtime pay, discretionary annual or performance bonuses, sales incentives, medical, dental, and vision insurance, and paid time off - Position requires working from the US East Coast or London with periodic travel to Africa
