About this role

Role overview

Own the controlled electronic-component library and engineering data practices used across hardware design, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and service. This hands-on senior role combines ECAD library creation with data governance, cleanup, workflow design, and automation. The goal is to make approved parts easy to find and reuse while ensuring that released BOMs, component records, revisions, and lifecycle information remain accurate and aligned across systems.

Responsibilities

- Manage the structure, standards, permissions, and day-to-day operation of a managed Altium component library. - Create, review, and release schematic symbols, PCB footprints, pad stacks, simulation models, and 3D component models. - Validate models against manufacturer documentation, including pinouts, polarity, package dimensions, land patterns, solder-mask and paste definitions, assembly layers, and 3D alignment. - Define naming, parameter, revision, lifecycle, template, and review standards for component records. - Audit and repair legacy data by resolving duplicates, obsolete records, missing models, inconsistent attributes, and conflicting part numbers without losing released-design traceability. - Run the new-part process from request intake and duplicate review through internal numbering, library creation, approval, release, and downstream synchronization.

Requirements

- Strong practical experience creating and managing ECAD component libraries in Altium or a comparable environment. - Ability to interpret manufacturer datasheets and verify electrical, mechanical, assembly, and 3D component data. - Experience with engineering BOMs, part numbering, lifecycle states, revisions, and controlled release processes. - Familiarity with PLM, ERP, procurement, manufacturing, or service data flows and the need for a reliable source of truth. - Capability to build scripts, queries, dashboards, APIs, or validation checks for duplicate detection, metadata quality, BOM comparison, lifecycle updates, and system synchronization. - Strong communication skills for training and supporting engineers and PCB designers.

Nice to have

- Experience with component compliance information such as RoHS, REACH, conflict minerals, export controls, or counterfeit prevention. - Background establishing preferred-part programs, automated library validation, component-engineering governance, or cross-functional part-number standards. - Familiarity with libraries spanning electrical parts, PCB assemblies, cables, harnesses, mechanical items, and broader hardware assemblies.

Benefits and work setup

- The source lists a starting cash range of $130,000–$200,000, with final compensation dependent on experience, qualifications, skills, location, and expected impact. - Total compensation may also include equity, bonuses, overtime where applicable, insurance, and paid time off.
