Role overview
Work as a senior independent data engineer on a short-term, project-based engagement supporting a client’s integration and analytics environment. The role centers on building dependable pipelines, shaping warehouse data, and enabling reporting, while translating technical decisions into useful business outcomes. It is suited to an autonomous contractor who can move quickly in an ambiguous environment and remain closely aligned with client stakeholders and a small engineering team.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines with Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services to move data from source systems into a warehouse. - Develop and optimize data models and warehouse structures in Amazon Redshift. - Write production-quality SQL and Python for transformation, validation, workflow automation, and operational support. - Create and maintain Power BI data models for reporting and business dashboards. - Add data-quality checks and validation logic to improve accuracy, traceability, and confidence in downstream information. - Document data flows, models, and pipeline logic to support handoff and ongoing maintenance.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services for data integration. - Practical experience with Amazon Redshift and cloud-based data infrastructure, preferably in AWS environments. - Strong SQL skills and a solid understanding of ETL/ELT design patterns. - Proficiency in Python for data engineering workflows. - Experience building Power BI reporting models and applying sound data-modeling practices. - Strong communication skills, with the ability to work directly with stakeholders and explain technical work in business terms.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with Veeva or comparable systems in pharmaceutical or life-sciences environments. - Experience working with data where accuracy, validation, and traceability are especially important.
Benefits and work setup
- Short-term, project-based independent-contractor engagement, most likely hourly and on a 1099 basis through the end of the year. - The stated compensation range is $60–$75 per hour, with final terms dependent on experience, scope, engagement structure, and business needs.
