Role overview An entry-level engineering role focused on supporting a software platform used by government offices and their teams to communicate with the people they serve. The position blends customer-facing technical support with hands-on development across the front end, back end, and data pipelines, and is designed for early-career engineers who want to grow quickly under the guidance of more experienced teammates.
Responsibilities - Triage and resolve technical issues escalated from front-line support, including printer troubleshooting, email investigations, and back-end data updates for clients - Debug websites and HTML email newsletters using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript - Monitor production systems for problems and escalate bugs to the development team, tracking progress in an issue tracker - Contribute to data pipelines covering ingestion, validation, search, and optimization - Write and refine SQL queries to support client needs and internal reporting - Partner with product, design, QA, and data colleagues to ship cohesive cross-functional features
Requirements - 0-1 years of hands-on experience with scripting or software development, or equivalent knowledge from coursework or personal projects - Familiarity with at least one object-oriented language such as C# or .NET - Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript fundamentals - Basic SQL skills with a willingness to level up - Comfort with Linux/Unix environments and exposure to cloud tooling such as AWS, Bash, or nginx - Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical topics to non-technical audiences
Nice to have - Experience with Angular, Python, MSSQL, or Redis - Familiarity with building and testing HTML email newsletters across multiple email clients - Interest in generative AI and large language model technologies
